Course Content

This course provides comprehensive coverage of the responsibilities and duties of welding inspectors. Topics include various fusion welding techniques, common weld imperfections, steel classifications (such as carbon-manganese, low alloy, and stainless steels), steel strengthening processes, factors affecting weldability, heat treatment methods, identification of parent metal defects, visual inspection techniques, testing methods for parent metals and welds, and non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques. The curriculum also addresses welder and procedure approval processes, adherence to relevant codes and standards, safety practices, practical exam question preparation, and continuous assessment throughout the course. Eligible candidates will take the CSWIP examination on the final day.

Course Content

This course covers the fundamentals of corrosion, including surface preparation techniques and methods for testing surface contaminants. It explores key components and advancements in paint technology, such as solutions, dispersions, and drying properties. Participants will learn about the conditions required for successful painting, including cathodic protection and techniques for detecting holidays or pinholes in coatings. The curriculum also includes various paint application methods, quality assurance testing of paint films, identification of common paint defects, and issues related to color. Emphasis is placed on inspection techniques to meet specification requirements, along with a focus on health, safety, and best practices in the workplace.
